Producer / Host

Jason Portizo is an audio engineer, musician, podcaster, and gaming nerd born and raised in New Jersey. Jason’s audio career started when he opened Ugly Door Studio in 2011 where in between bands he recorded his first podcast “Ugly Door Sessions”. When the studio closed in 2015 he moved on to do sound for concert venues full time. When the COVID pandemic stopped all concert work in 2020, Jason turned to live stream production and returned to podcasting to satisfy the stagehand itch. Starting with the unscripted comedy show “Good One, Keith!” and later “Flight and a Pint”, a show about beer tourism, his love for the podcast medium was fully rediscovered. Jason's love for tabletop gaming never waned even when he couldn't invite company over, and his love for TTRPGs was starting to grow.

Jason first played Dungeons and Dragons - albeit poorly and incorrectly - in middle school. The same friends who taught him how to play DnD wrong also taught him how to play Magic: The Gathering wrong. He eventually learned the right way and spent a few years traveling the country (and parts of Canada) playing and judging Magic tournaments. Jason now prefers tabletop games with real-life friends and fills his shelves with board games and RPG books. Getting a group of adults to play a game every week is an unfortunate challenge so in an attempt to simultaneously scratch the gaming itch as well as the audio engineering itch - Curmudgeons and Dragons was born!

Jason is back to concert production work as a Front of House and Monitor engineer for a few different venues in New Jersey. He also works as a professional podcast editor for Podcast Buddy and produces podcasts locally as JTP Audio. His bands Don’t Know Jack and Jason & The Magnificent Bastards can be seen live all over New Jersey.
